AFTER a rare weekend off, we returned to action on Tuesday with a good performance and an important three points against a very good Weston super Mare side.

Once again we had many chances throughout the game but the post, crossbar, goalkeeper and some last-ditch defending looked set to frustrate us again.

Then we did get a bit of luck with an own goal and credit to the players for remaining patient to conjure up one last chance in the last minute, which was expertly taken by Liam Enver-Marum.

This weekend we travel to Sussex to face possibly the best side we have played this season.

Whitehawk have some fantastic players and during the two games we have played against them this season, they have played some outstanding football.

It’s a big game for both teams as we look to cement our places in the play off positions.

The squad is almost back to full strength. Jamie Brown is due to take part in full training tonight and we are looking in good shape. We have versatility throughout the side and great strength in depth.

The Academy took a good point from their game against a strong Eastleigh side last week. Ben Wilson’s goal earned us a 1-1 draw and we were very unlucky not to take all the points.

On Monday, we lost 3-1 to Southampton (Sparsholt), with James Sayers getting our goal.

It was a scoreline that flattered Southampton. We missed a penalty and several other chances in a game that could easily have gone the other way.

The Academy’s next game is at home to Oxford United on Wednesday.
