BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies were beaten 3-2 by visiting Mansfield Road Ladies at Winklebury on Sunday.

The visitors took the lead after 20 minutes but Town responded almost immediately, Lindsey Beverley firing home after good work from Justine Mosley and Sam Mosley.

Basingstoke created several chances before the break, but they were unable to take them and a mistake in the defence saw them fall behind for a second time in the opening minute of the second half.

Again they were able to find an immediate response, Sam Mosley heading home from a corner, but Mansfield Road regained the lead on 52 minutes.

Beverley had two good efforts saved as the hosts looked to level again, while Sam Mosley shot narrowly wide, but they were unable to get on terms.

Basingstoke are at home again on Sunday, hosting Newbury Ladies in the Southern League Premier Division.

Shannon King found the net five times as Basingstoke Town Ladies Reserves beat Sholing Ladies 8-1 in Hampshire League Division Three. Charlotte May netted twice and Sarah North was the other Town scorer.
