BASINGSTOKE Su-Ha-Ri Karate School fighters enjoyed success at the Western Karate Union Championships held at Weston-super-Mare.
Tadley’s Lexie Green won a silver medal in her first event and followed up with bronze in the girls’ five to seven years fighting competition.
Anthony Parmar of Worting contested the boys’ under-10 years purple to black belt category.
After going through five rounds without conceding a single point, Parmar emerged with his first ever all styles kumite gold.
Kelsey Whiteland and Phoebe Davis entered the girls’ 13 to 15 years beginner and high grade categories respectively.
Whiteland took silver, while Davis fought well to take a bronze.
Coach Kevin Crine said: “I’m amazed by the outcome, as this team was comprised mainly of beginners.
“Lexie (Green) showed great promise for the future with her calm composure and strong fighting spirit.
“Anthony (Parmar) also has a bright future as he fights with the wisdom of someone far beyond his years.”
