BASINGSTOKE RFC face a tough trip this weekend as they travel to the in-form team in London One South, Sutton and Epsom.

The Surrey side have won their last eight games, a run that has moved them up to second, while ’Stoke ended their worst run of the season with a victory in their last outing against Twickenham.

Basingstoke head coach Will Croker said: “We have had a shot at winning every game this season, except the Havant one, when we did not play well. It is only mistakes which have cost us.

“Sutton have a good run going and they are scoring a lot of points. This is a game between two very attacking sides and I am looking forward to it.”

He added: “We have to focus on our own game, making sure we are confrontational at the game line, as we were in the Twickenham game. Before this, we were playing too deep.”

Chris Guyatt will miss the trip as he is recovering from a dislocated shoulder, but Kochanowski brothers, Rudi and Jobi, will return as well as Freddie Gleadowe.

This will leave Croker with multiple options when it comes to the selection of his backs. Jobi Kochanow-ski has been impressive at full-back all season, and Gleadowe has done well at outside centre.

However, Matt Guilfoyle scored a hat-trick against Twickenham, Matt Wood-house scored his first try in the same game, and Jake Whitby also did well.

Saturday’s game against Sutton starts a run of games against the top three sides in London One South, with the next two games being at home to leaders Wimbledon and then Guildford.
