AS I WRITE this, we are sitting top of the league after 11 games.

It’s been a great start to the season and the mood around the club is very positive. The players are working extremely hard on the training pitch, the spirit that we have is showing during games and we have just picked up six points from two very difficult games.

On Saturday, we had to play 45 minutes without a recognised goalkeeper in very difficult conditions. I expect many people feared the worst, but the players protected the goal like their lives depended on it and restricted Concord to just two shots on target for the entire half.

At half-time, you could sense the players were not going to let this set-back be a problem and there was never a stage when we tried to settle for draw. We wanted to win the game.

The supporters who made the long journey were absolutely fantastic and they deserved the points as much as the players.

On Tuesday we ground out a win against a very good Whitehawk side. We had a very entertaining first half, which we probably shaded and had a few more chances to increase the 1-0 lead, and that was fas followed by a second half where Whitehawk had most of the play but couldn’t break us down. Once again, the work-rate of the team was excellent.

This Saturday we face yet another very tough game as we visit Ebbsfleet in the FA Cup.

Ebbsfleet have the best home record in the league and will be a real threat going forward, as well as being very tough to score against.

We are in a good place at the moment though and it promises to be a exciting game. Fingers crossed we are in the draw for the next round on Monday.

Regards,

Jason
