HOOK and Newnham Basics suffered double defeat last weekend, as they lost at the hands of visiting Liphook and Ripsley in the Southern League and then made their Southern Electric t20 Plate exit at New Milton.

In their Southern League Division One game, Hook were bowled out for 157, as Josh Buckingham (44) and Spencer Champ (27) top scored.

The game looked in the balance, until Liphook’s overseas star Suman Ganguly hit an unbeaten 55 to get them home by five wickets.

In their t20 defeat, visiting Hook were bowled out for 93, as they went down by six wickets at New Milton.

This weekend, Hook have their longest trip of the season to fourth-placed Bournemouth.

Gary Binns, who took two wickets in the t20 loss, and Kevin Poulter miss the trip, but Nick Willcock returns.

Hook captain Matt Love said: “Our top order failed to fire in both games last weekend.

“We will look to put this right at Bournemouth on Saturday.”
