A POOR finish cost Basingstoke golfer Stuart Archibald several positions in his latest EuroPro Tour event.
The 30-year-old travelled to The Royal Burgess, near Edinburgh, for The Simpson and Marwick Championship, ending up in a tie for 26th on -1, eight shots behind the winner.
Archibald had been on course for a top-15 finish going into the final two holes of the event, sitting on -2 for his closing round and -3 for the tournament, but a bogey, double bogey finish saw him slip down the leaderboard.
The Worting golfer had made a strong start, making birdies at three of his first six holes on the way to an opening round of 68 (-2), four shots off the lead.
He looked on course to stay in contention during the second round, but a double bogey six at the 17th resulted in a level par round of 70, leaving him seven shots behind the front-runner going into the last day.
Archibald was again two-under-par after 16 holes of his final round, but he was unable to maintain his form, eventually carding a round of 71 (+1).
Archibald sits 37th in the EuroPro Tour order of merit going into his next event, The Kingspan Concra Wood Open, which gets under way in Ireland on Wednesday.
