OVERTON United won through to the next round of the Hampshire Premier League Cup with a 2-1 victory away at AFC Stoneham on Saturday.
United had lost 4-1 when the sides met in the league a few weeks earlier but they made a good start and took a deserved lead on the half-hour, right-back Ben Dibbern beating one man before finding the net from 20 yards via the inside of the post.
Myles Englefield doubled the lead before half-time, producing a good turn and shot to beat the home goalkeeper and make it 2-0 at the break.
Stoneham pulled a goal back with 15 minutes to go but the visitors held out to win the tie and even had chances to extend their lead, Chris Lavisher, Englefield and Jordan Grant all being denied by the goalkeeper.
Overton are in cup action again this Saturday, travelling to take on Portsmouth Saturday League outfit St Helena Bobs in the Hampshire Intermediate Cup.
