BASINGSTOKE RFC director of rugby James Croker has already made seven additions to his squad as he prepares for life in National Three London.

’Stoke only returned to pre-season training on Tuesday but Croker has moved quickly to increase his already abundant options over the summer break.

Brothers Rudy and Jobi Kockonowski have joined after impressing against Basingstoke for Trojans. Rudy is a back-row forward who has captained Hampshire, while Jobi is a full-back.

Andy Barnes, who can play at either fly-half or centre, has joined from Portsmouth, while young prop Ryan Wilkie will spend next season at Down Grange after being released by the London Irish Academy.

Also coming in are second-row Tom Erskine and utility back Alex Kane, who were at Newbury last season, and Harvey Brewin a young back-rower who has come through the ranks at Alton.

Returning to the club after a spell overseas is second-row George Scott, while Croker is also in talks to bring centre Ollie Johnson in from London Irish Wild Geese.

In addition, Croker does not expect to lose any of the players who earned ’Stoke promotion from London One South.

Possibly most importantly, talented fly-half Adam Davies, who was reportedly being monitored by London Irish last season, has committed to playing for Basingstoke in 2013-14.

Croker said: “Making sure we kept hold of the guys we had last year was a massively important thing that we had to do and it’s really positive that we have been able to do it.

“We are only just back in training so it’s nice to have brought some good players in already. It’s going to be really competitive, which is how we want it to be.

“It’s nice to be back. It’s a new challenge and it’s going to be an exciting season.”
