TOP goal-scoring British forward Joe Miller is back for another season with the Basingstoke Bison.

One of the top English Premier League homegrown marksmen, Miller hit the net 26 times last season in a points total of 67, with only Greg Owen and Doug Sheppard scoring more for the Herd.

The year before the 28-year-old Cardiff-born goal-getter was top scorer with the Herd and is a firm fans’ favourite.

He will add even more bite to the Bison offence that already includes Canadians Sheppard and Joe Rand.

This will be his third campaign in a Herd jersey and Bison player/coach Sheppard is delighted to have secured his signature.

The Bison boss said: “Joe has a natural gift when it comes to scoring goals that is something you cannot teach. He is another key signing for us as he is a guy you can rely on to score 25 to 30 goals a season.”

Miler is a consistent scorer in the EPL and won the grand slam with the Peterborough Phantoms in 2008/09. He was then the key player in the Manchester Phoenix’s third line when they took the title two years later.

Looking forward to helping the Herd to glory, Miller said: “I think we can win trophies and I want to be part of that. I want to chip in all over the ice, not just in the goal-scoring column.

“I really hope I can have an injury free season as last year I found it hard to get going after coming back after injury.”

The Welshman could well link up with Rand again and if they are put together on a forward line, Miller is sure they will be successful.

He said: “Randy is a player who will go through a brick wall for you, and we played well together last season.”
