BASINGSTOKE-BORN Josh Goodall won his first doubles title of the season along with fellow Brit Harry Meehan at a Futures event at Heraklion in Greece.

The pair never lost a set in the whole competition and won the final without hitting a ball in anger after an injury to their opponents’ home player Alexandros Jakupovic, who was partnered by Frenchman Yannick Jankovits.

To reach the final they beat Nikolaos Kokkotas and Konstantinos Mikos 7-6, 6-2 and then another Greek pair, Marko Kalovelonis and Charalampos Kapogiannis, 7-5, 6-1.

In the semi-final they came up against Russian Stepan Khotulev and Italian Andrea Patracchini, enjoying their most comfortable victory 6-3, 6-4.

In the singles, Goodall was seeded number one and had to come from a set down in round one against Greek wild card George Giotopoulos.

Having lost the opening set 7-3 in a tie break, the British number four stormed back winning the match 6-7, 6-3, 6-2.

The Basingstoke-born player then beat Bulgarian qualifier Boris Bakalov 6-1, 7-5 to set-up a quarter-final with the number eight seed Frenchman Martin Vaisse.

Goodall won the opening set 7-5, but then lost the next two sets 6-1, 6-4.

Vaisse went on to win the tournament, beating Brit Josh Milton in the final 6-4, 6-2.
