TEENAGE forward Cameron Wynn capped his debut tournament for Great Britain with a goal for the under-18s in Estonia.

The young lions did well in the tournament, winning three of their five games, beating Estonia (7-3), Lithuania (3-2) and Romania (2-1). Their two defeats came against eventual winners Hungary (6-2) and Croatia (5-3).

Defeat in the final game against Croatia saw GB have to settle for fourth place, while a win would have given them the silver medal.

The 18-year-old, who attends Queen Mary’s College, scored his goal against Croatia to give his side a 2-1 lead.

Recalling his marker, Wynn said: “There was a turnover at our end and I was looking to make the pass to the net, but that was blocked by a defenceman, so I saw the five hole and fired through it.

“It was great to score and also to stand on the blue line singing the national anthem in the first game.”

He added: “We played well for the whole week, but it was disappointing we lost the last game and missed out on a medal.”

The teenager, who has played all his hockey at Basingstoke, now moves up to GB under-20 level and hopes he will be selected for the team around Christmas.

Wynn’s Bison teammate Matt Selby also made the trip to Estonia and picked up two assists.
