BASINGSTOKE tennis ace Josh Goodall celebrated winning his second title of 2103 with success in the AEGON British Tour event at Corby.

The British number four, ranked 261 in the world, was seeded number one for the event and given a bye into the second round, where he comfortably beat Robert Morris 6-0, 6-4.

In the quarter-finals Goodall, came through a real battle against number six seed British teenager Jathan Malik as, after winning the first set 6-2, he lost the second in a tie-break 7-4.

That set up a decider – and it went all the way to the wire and was decided by another tie-break, this time the Basingstoke-born player 27-year-old coming out on top, winning it 7-2 to take the match 6-2, 6-7, 7-6.

In the final four match-up Goodall overcame the third seeded Frenchman Nicolas Rosenzweig 6-4, 7-6 which set up a final against second seed 20-year-old Brit James Marsalek who had not lost a set on his way to the final.

Goodall came out on top, winning 6-4, 6-4 top take the title and now moves on to Sutton for his next event.
