OVERTON’S hopes of winning the Hampshire Two title suffered a setback as they lost 9-3 away at mid-table Locksheath Pumas.
The hosts led 6-3 at the break, Tom Barrington kicking the Overton penalty. Locksheath finished the job after half-time, adding another kick as the visitors were forced to play 20 minutes with 14 men due to yellow cards.
Overton are now eight points behind leaders Solent University ahead of a free weekend.
Chineham are up to eighth after winning 36-12 at home to struggling Fareham Heathens.
Fareham opened the scoring but Chineham responded well, with wingers Jonty Moody and Jordan Slaney running in.
Centre Chris Ford was next to cross the line before scrum-half Stewart Sinclair finished off a nice move to put the hosts 26-5 ahead at half-time.
The visitors scored the opening try of the second-half from a rolling maul but again Chineham hit back. Full-back Arron Lambourne scored with an outstanding solo effort, while flanker Jack Douglas completed the scoring from the back of a disrupted scrum.
Chineham do play this weekend, hosting league leaders Solent University.
