RYAN Stephens was Hartley Wintney’s hat-trick hero as the village side finally chalked up their first win under new boss Ben Dillon with a thrilling 4-3 victory away at Colliers Wood United in the Combined Counties League Premier Division.
Manager Dillon said: “It was great to get a win as it has been definitely coming over the past few games.”
The village side will hope to repeat that winning magic at home on Saturday when mid-table Epsom and Ewell are the visitors and then on Tuesday night they travel to Farnham.
Dillon added: “Our next two games look tough ones, but the squad is buzzing so hopefully we can pick up some more points.”
Having gone a goal down Hartley hit back as Stephens converted a corner from James Powell and then netted another thanks to a one-on-one.
The home side equalised, but Craig Barker finished a great move on his debut to give the visitors the lead at the break.
Straight after the interval, Hartley made it 4-2 as Stephens completed his hat-trick as he put away a cross from Zac Reynolds.
The home side pulled a goal back with 20 minutes, but from then the visitors’ defence held firm to make sure they recorded the victory.
