TRAIN passengers are being advised not to travel today as services have been decimated by the wintry weather.
An array of South Western Railway (SWR) services which pass through Basingstoke, such as between Salisbury and London Waterloo and Exeter St David to Waterloo have been cancelled.
Meanwhile, with severe disruption across the south of the network, passengers looking to get to areas such as Southampton and Weymouth are being advised not to travel further west than Basingstoke.
There a number of cancellations elsewhere on the South Western Railway network.
It has also been announced that SWR services will not be running after 8pm this evening. They are advising either not to travel or complete any travel before then. The website states that the company cannot guarantee to get passengers to their destination today.
As of 4.45pm, many trains running from Basingstoke are either cancelled or severely delayed.
Ice has also frozen a number of points across the network.
Advice being given is to check before you travel at http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/service/planjourney/search and search for #UKSnowSWR on Twitter for further information.
