SIR: We were led to believe the closure of Hyde Street was to provide more separation for pedestrians in North Walls.
This makes no sense having this measure only in North Walls and nowhere else, apart from a section of Jewry Street.
The resulting congestion has caused an increase in pollution and unnecessary delays for motorists.
I strongly suspect this measure was introduced more for the benefit of Hyde Street residents, a quieter road and ease of parking, than for the well being of others.
