Andover’s business community has paid tribute to an anonymous donor who has spent hundreds of pounds providing the vulnerable with a treat this half-term.

The benefactor made a large donation after a campaign led by Andover Aesthetic Practitioners to raise money for meal vouchers to support vulnerable families.

The donation will pay for more than 20 families to be treated to a sundae or waffle and drink for free at Canto Gelato over two days.

Kelly Jones, co-owner, said that the donation was “fantastic,” describing the donor as “brilliant.”

“It’s given us a lot of publicity,” she said, “but we can’t take credit for his donation.

“There’s a lot of large families coming in, and they can’t afford to do often so it’s good to give them a treat, and something to look forward to.”

She described one boy asking for a mug of tea, and being “chuffed” at getting the ability to mix it to his liking. “It was really cute,” she added.

This donation is one of the many ways Andover’s business community has come together to support struggling families this half-term.

The aforementioned campaign by Andover Aesthetic Practitioners raised over £630 with the help of businesses and individuals, while many of our area’s eateries have also offered free meals for anyone who needs it.
