Portway Junior School has been the latest Test Valley School to confirm Covid-19 as case numbers rise in the borough.

The school, located on Upper Drove, confirmed that the virus was present on October 22. The school remained open following the test results, with all parents and carers at the school sent a letter via email on October 23.

The confirmed cases follow others last week in Test Valley, with Icknield School and Norman Gate School both confirming positive results on Monday, October 19, while Test Valley School in Stockbridge confirmed the same the following day.

Stockbridge Primary School, Harrow Way, Hatherden and Winton Community Academy have also confirmed Covid-19 this month.

The reports coming from schools follow figures gradually rising across the borough. Cases have risen from a low of seven on October 18 to 21 the following day, with 20 cases for both Thursday and Friday. The latest figures for Sunday, October 22, report 19 new positive test results, bringing the overall total so far to 938 in Test Valley.
