Police have closed off MacCullum Road in Enham, near Andover, after a shooting.

Yesterday, a 42-year-old man was seriously injured after he was shot at around 3pm.

He was found at an address on MacCullum Road in the village of Upper Enham, on the outskirts of town.

A motorcyclist fleeing the scene who failed to stop when being pursued by police crashed his vehicle and died.

The A343 was closed at Hurstbourne Tarrant for six hours while investigations were carried out.

As of 1am, MacCullum Road remained closed from Weston Court.

It is not yet known the property of where the shooting took place.

Leader of Test Valley Borough Council Phil North has this morning expressed his shock at the news.

He wrote: "An absolutely horrible incident in my Bourne Valley Ward this afternoon [Wednesday].

"My thoughts are with the family of the man who was shot - and the communities of both Enham Alamein and Hurstbourne Tarrant. I’ve been informed of some of the details by local sources this evening but I certainly don’t have a full picture.

"I will hopefully get further information from the police in the morning and that they will be able to reassure local residents. But tonight, let’s all hope that the victim of the shooting makes a full recovery."
