ANDOVER fell silent at the start of this week as the Armed Forces flag was raised above the town, despite official plans to honour the armed forces being cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The flag was hoisted above the Guildhall to commemorate Armed Forces Day, which takes place on Saturday, June 27.

The Mayor of Andover, Cllr Richard Rowles, as well as representatives from the Royal British Legion (RBL), were present for the flag raising. So too was Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC)’s Armed Forces Champion, Councillor Nick Matthews.
