POLICE seized a Vauxhall Corsa in Tidworth at the weekend after the driver displayed a “questionable” standard of driving.

Officers say the vehicle was stopped on Saturday night, a decision based on the standard of driving displayed as well as a number of defects noticed by police.

It was then discovered the car belonged to a friend and the driver therefore did not have the correct insurance. He was also not conforming to the condition of his provisional driving licence.

The driver was reported for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving with no insurance.

Enquiries are ongoing with the owner of the vehicle.

PC Blake said: “This was a proactive stop solely based on the standard of driving that was being displayed right in front of a marked Police vehicle and the defects seen on the vehicle.

“The driver will ultimately find himself in court to answer for his actions and another illegal vehicle has been taken off the road.”
