HEALTH bosses say it would be “inappropriate” to comment on an ongoing police investigation regarding allegations of sexual assault one of its doctor's surgeries.

As reported in the Advertiser, two men were arrested in March on suspicion of a number of counts of sexual assault.

The arrests were part of an ongoing police investigation regarding Cross Plains Surgery, in Durrington.

The men, aged 31 and 41 and both from the Salisbury area, have since been interviewed and released by police. Officers said their enquiries remain ongoing.

Now, the clinical commissioning group that oversees healthcare in the area has moved to assure patients it “strives to ensure” its service are safe.

However it stopped short of commenting on the allegations directly, adding that it would be “inappropriate” to do so with the investigation ongoing.

A statement from Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said: “Given the ongoing police investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment at this stage, however patients are reassured that the CCG strives to ensure all healthcare services in the region are safe, fit-for-purpose and able to meet the needs of the people they serve.”

Police confirmed yesterday (Thursday) that two men were arrested on suspicion of a total of six counts of sexual assault.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police told the Advertiser: “Two arrests have been made as part of ongoing enquiries into a medical centre in Salisbury.

“A 31-year-old man from the Salisbury area was arrested on suspicion of four counts of sexual assault.
