A group of Travellers seem to be making good use of the lockdown after they were spotted in an empty Andover car park.

The group were pictured arriving at the car park of the Simplyhealth office off Chantry Way just after 7pm on Sunday.

Police were also called to the scene and have told the Advertiser: "We aware of an unauthorised encampment in Chantry Street, Andover, and officers have visited the site to assess the situation."

Basingstoke Gazette:

But unlike most Traveller encampment, this particular one falls on private land, rather than council-owned land. This means Test Valley Council have relatively little to do with the situation.

Instead Simplyhealth are coordinating the situation and Richard Gillies, Simplyhealth’s chief operating officer: “We’re aware of the situation and are working closely with Hampshire County Council, Test Valley Borough Council, as well as the local police.

"We have also stepped up our own monitoring and security patrols.”
