Councillors are pushing residents to do their bit for the planet by bringing broken items back to life at the repair cafe this Saturday, February 15.

The event will take place at the Ugly Duckling shop in the Chantry Centre from 10am until 1pm with the last repair arranged at 12.30pm.

The Big Fix project is part of Test Valley Borough Council’s project to encourage people to reduce, reuse, recycle as climate change becomes a growing concern worldwide.

This comes after Parliament declared a climate emergency in May last year.

MP for North West Hampshire, Kit Malthouse, said: “I am incredibly proud to be part of a government that has cut emissions faster than any other G7 nations.”

Climate change has been a hot topic at Balksbury School after fellow pupil, Harvey Smith wrote to his headteacher asking for an electricity free day.
