Swan fatally injured after being struck by a car in Overton
A swan has been fatally injured after being hit by a car on a busy high street.
Rural police from Basingstoke were called to the scene on London Road in Overton yesterday.
The injured swan was taken to a vets in Winchester.
In a statement, the police said: "Basingstoke Rural Police attended London Road in Overton in relation to reports of a swan having been struck by a vehicle.
"Police took the injured Swan to a vets in Winchester. Unfortunately the animal's injuries were to severe to nurse it back to health."
