ANIMAL has confirmed its Chantry Centre store in Andover will close tomorrow afternoon (Sunday).

The popular clothing brand has announced its Andover store will close on Sunday, February 2, at 2pm.

This follows after fellow fashion giants Topshop and Dorothy Perkins announced last week that their Andover stores would close on March 14.

A spokesperson from Animal told the Advertiser: "Our last day of trading is this Sunday. The store is closing as we are coming to the end of our lease and have taken the decision not to renew it.

"I would like to thank all of our customers over the years and hope they will continue to shop with us at animal.co.uk."

The Advertiser has reached out to Andover Business Improvement District for a comment.

Back in 2013, the town attracted nearly 950,000 shoppers coming to the high street which dropped by nearly 300,000 in 2019.

Councillor Nick Matthews, who represents Andover Romans ward on Test Valley Borough Council, told the Advertiser: “Our high streets are indeed suffering from new shopping cultures, such as online shopping.

“My hope is that this new town look will increase footfall in the town.”
