A rise in the number of cases of drink spiking in UK nightclubs has seen a campaign launched by Student Beans to help people spot if a drink has been tampered with.

The discount app shared a post detailing all the ways you could tell if a drink had been spiked, which has seen over half a million shares and engagements.

This has also sparked a Government petiton to make it a legal requirement for nightclubs to search guests on entry, so that 'date rape' drugs cannot get in.

There is also call for all students to boycott clubs and bars on Wednesday October 27 to get the message out.

Lewis Potton, Editor at Student Beans said: “Letting off some steam after a week of studying at a local bar is a staple part of university life for many.

"With many young people coming forward to share their experiences of drink spiking, we must be all aware of the signs that show a drink may have been tampered with, to help protect ourselves and those around us.”
