THE TRIAL of a man from Rotherwick accused of attempting to blow up more than a dozen cash machines across Hampshire, Dorset and Surrey has been stopped after two jurors were told to self-isolate.
David Patrick Hughes, known as Paddy, had been standing trial at Winchester Crown Court accused of a host of charges including conspiracy to cause an explosion and conspiracy to steal.
He is accused of leading an organised crime gang and attempting to blow up ATMs including in Farnham and Mortimer.
But yesterday (Monday), the trial was stopped after two jurors were told they needed to self-isolate, prosecutor Mark Ruffell told The Gazette.
Therefore, the jury were discharged and a new trial is scheduled for February 14, 2022.
Hughes, of Street End Close, has been remanded into custody.
