A MAN accused of trying to abduct a child in Eastrop Park will stand trial later this year.
Mohamed Jarboui, of New Street, is charged with attempting to abduct a two-year-old girl near Eastrop Park in February.
The 51-year-old Libyan national, was arrested and charged after the incident, and appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court days after the alleged offence.
He stood in the dock wearing a grey tracksuit and a blue face mask, and shook his head as prosecutor David Fossler read details of the charge to the court.
As previously reported, the court heard that the 52-year-old denied trying to take the child in police interview.
He will stand trial at Winchester Crown Court on September 27.
