A man in his 60s who assaulted a health worker and two security guards during the Covid pandemic has been told to undergo treatment for alcohol addiction.

Stephen Ronald Colvill assaulted an NHS worker in Basingstoke on June 15, 2020, before assaulting two security guards.

The 64-year-old pleaded guilty at an earlier court hearing last month.

Sentencing Colvill, of Stanford Road in Brighton Hill, magistrates instructed him to undergo 12 months of treatment for alcohol dependency.

He must also take part in 15 days of rehabilitation activities over the course of the next 15 months.

Colvill was ordered to pay £100 in compensation to the NHS member of staff, and £50 to each of the security guards.

A man caught drug driving in Ramsdell has been banned from driving for three years.

Archie Hutchins, of Blackbushes Road in Fleet, was behind the wheel of a silver Ford on Kingsclere Road when he was under the influence of cannabis.

The offence took place on July 24.

Pleading guilty to drug driving at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday, the 27-year-old was fined £120 and banned from driving for three years.

He must also pay costs of £40 and a £34 victim surcharge.

A man from Somerset has had his driving licence taken away after he was caught travelling through a Hampshire village at nearly double the speed limit.

Gellert Lorincz, of Knightstone Road in Weston-super-Mare, was behind the wheel of an Audi A3 on November 8, 2020.

He was travelling along the A340 through Monk Sherborne and was caught at 79 miles per hour - where the limit is 40 mph.

The 29-year-old was fined £500 and banned from driving for 56 days at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last Saturday.

He must also pay costs of £90 and a victim surcharge of £50.

A Hatch Warren man is due to stand trial after being accused of assaulting a woman last year.

Tyrone Gillam, of Lapin Lane, is said to have assaulted the woman in Basingstoke on March 29.

The 49-year-old pleaded not guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday, and will now appear before Aldershot Magistrates’ Court on July 28 for the trial.

A Suffolk man has escaped a driving ban after being caught speeding on the M3.

Peter Alan Lambert was clocked driving his Volkswagen at 84 miles per hour near Junction 7 on October 26, 2020.

The 41-year-old was given three penalty points at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last Saturday, but was not disqualified by the totting up procedure after magistrates said it would have caused exceptional hardship on his family.

The court was told that banning Lambert from driving would have resulted in a loss of income and he would not be able to pay child maintenance to his ex-wife.

It would also mean that he could not drop his children off to school and activities.

As such, the man, of Roman Way, Sudbury, was fined £84, and ordered to pay total costs of £124.

A man who was caught travelling at 110 miles per hour on the M3 has been fined and banned from driving.

Mehmet Sen, of Bank Street in Melksham, was clocked whilst behind the wheel of a Renault whilst on the motorway near Basingstoke.

Appearing before Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court for sentencing last Saturday, the 45-year-old was fined £200 and banned from driving for 55 days.

He must also pay costs of £90 and a victim surcharge of £34.

A man has been disqualified from driving after being found driving a Volkswagen Golf without insurance.

Ugurcan Secgin, of Junction Road in London, was behind the wheel of the vehicle on the southbound carriageway of the M3 between junctions 6 and 7 on November 11, 2020, when he had no insurance.

He admitted the charge via the single justice at a previous hearing in April, and appeared for sentencing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last Saturday.

The 21-year-old was fined £120 and banned from driving for six months.

He must also pay costs of £40 and a £34 victim surcharge.
