The trial of a teenager accused of committing grievous bodily harm with intent has been abandoned.

The 16-year-old Basingstoke boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been due to stand trial at Winchester Crown Court this week.

He is charged with committing GBH with intent and possession of a 12 inch hunting knife in Popley.

A jury was sworn in on Monday and prosecutor James Haskell had already opened his case.

But on Tuesday, the jury were dismissed and the trial stopped.

He will now face a fresh trial, due to get underway on June 28 at the same court.

The teenager denies the charges.
