LEGAL eagles from Basingstoke have smashed an ambitious target of raising £50,000 for charity.

Clarke & Son Solicitors, based in Winchester Road, were one of the first corporate supporters of the Ark Cancer Centre Charity back in February 2015.

As part of the “Our Partner” sponsorship the law firm set themselves a target of raising £50,000 for the Ark Cancer Centre Charity over a three-year period.

This week staff from Clarke & Son revealed that their fundraising total has hit £55,204.87.

Darren Lovegrove, marketing manager at Clarke & Son, said: “The team are delighted to have hit this ambitious fundraising target, and we are grateful to all of our clients, other business contacts, and individuals who have supported our fundraising events over the last three years.

“The Clarke & Son team have been passionate supporters of Ark, and we have decided to continue our fundraising into a fourth year with the goal of raising an additional £15,000 in 2018-19.”

Charity golf days, a 24-hour rowathon and a Charity Ball have been among the key events that have pulled in thousands of pounds – and match-funding support from Greenham Trust through The Good Exchange funding platform was also key to helping the Clarke & Son team hit and surpass the £50,000 target.

The fundraising achievement was celebrated with the presentation of a giant cheque to Ark Cancer Centre Charity trustee Merv Rees, who is a driving force behind the cancer treatment centre project.

Mr Rees said: “The support from the Clarke & Son team has been absolutely awesome.

“The staff have really thrown themselves into fundraising for Ark, and their enthusiasm and achievement in terms of raising funds and awareness has really made a significant difference to the charity and cancer treatment centre project.

“Ark is proud and honoured to have had the backing of the Clarke & Son team for the last three years, and I am delighted and grateful that they have decided to continue their fundraising campaign into another year.”
