"I'LL remember one little boy who inspired me to do great things" - those are the words of a Basingstoke dad who has made a fundraising film in memory of his son.

Mike Wilson released The Amazing SpiderDad on YouTube just two days ago, in tribute to his son Jayden, and it has already been watched more than 30,000 times.

And for every person who views the film, money will be raised for Naomi House Children's Hospice, in Sutton Scotney.

Mike has been working on the tribute to Jayden since November last year.

He initially hoped his five-year-old son would be able to watch the finished piece, but tragically Jayden lost his battle with a brain tumour in December.

Mike decided to finish the film to raise money for the hospice where Jayden was cared for, as part of his Hope from Jayden campaign, and has now released the finished product.

The film, directed by Adam Brashaw, shows Mike transforming into SpiderDad - the name for his own version of SpiderMan, who was Jayden's hero - before fighting crime around Basingstoke.

The film is action packed and dramatic, as SpiderDad jumps from buildings around the town to catch the criminals, with special effects showing webs projecting from his hands.

And in an emotional tribute to his son at the end of the film, Mike says: "Whatever life holds in store for us I'll remember one little boy who inspired me to do great things - to help others and surround myself with positive people. He gave me this gift. Who am I? I'm SpiderDad."

Speaking to The Gazette, Mike, from Beggarwood, said: "The goal was to make it as real as possible for Jayden. The original goal for was him to have his own premiere at home with this video dedicated to him and his journey. Unfortunately we can't do that so I then decided let's make this a fundraising opportunity. The concept is quite simple - the more views it gets the more money that Naomi House raises."

He said he is "blown away" by the end result, adding: "Every single time I watch it it makes me cry."

Mike, who has two other children, said Jayden would have loved the video, adding: "He would have watched it and wanted to keep watching it. He was a massive SpiderMan fan."

Mike released a video on YouTube last year of Jayden meeting SpiderDad, when he jumped from the roof of the family's home to surprise his son on his fifth birthday.

The clip has been viewed more than 10 million times, and Mike hopes The Amazing SpiderDad will be just as successful.

Paul Morgan, head of fundraising at Naomi House and Jacksplace said: “Jayden’s moving story and Mike’s inspirational fundraising has captured the imagination of people across the UK. We are extremely grateful to Mike for all he has done in support of our work. Mike certainly knows how to put on a show and his latest film is nothing short of sensational.”

Mike has already raised £18,000 for the hospice via Hope From Jayden.
