A LOGISTICS officer from RAF Odiham is playing a key role in honouring some of the winners at the Olympic Games.

Flight Lieutenant Fran Capps has been tasked with raising national flags during victory ceremonies at Wembley Arena for the badminton and rhythmic gymnastics event.

She will lead a nine-strong team, picked from the Royal Air Force, which will also carry out flag duties for the ceremonies for the boccia and goalball events at the Paralympic Games.

Flt Lt Capps said: “I feel hugely honoured and privileged to have been selected to represent RAF Odiham and the Royal Air Force in leading a ceremony team during the Olympic Games.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I am delighted to be taking part in this incredible event. Hosting the Olympic Games is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the United Kingdom’s Armed Forces to a truly international audience.”

Flt Lt Capps is in command of the Integrated Logistics Operations Centre, at RAF Odiham, which provides engineering and logistics support for the Chinook fleet.

She has recently returned from Qatar, where she managed the movement of military personnel and equipment throughout the Middle East. She has also been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.
