ELVIS Costello has apologised to his fans after pulling out of tonight’s sold-out show in Basingstoke.
The Oliver’s Army star was due to appear with his backing band The Imposters at The Anvil, as part of the theatre’s 18th birthday celebrations.
A statement on the Anvil Arts website said the show had been postponed due to “short term vocal fatigue and doctor’s advice”.
The statement included a message from the artist.
He said: “I would like to apologise to our friends in Basingstoke for not being able to sing this evening but I would not want to end this Spectacular Spinning Songbook tour of the UK with what I know could only be a sub-standard performance.
“I thank you for your understanding and I look forward to our rescheduled show in your fine concert hall.”
Mr Costello added that he was looking for a date to reschedule the show.
