GENEROUS children and parents have done their bit to improve the lives of poor children in the Philippines by donating clothes and shoes for them.
Children at North Waltham Primary School and Overton Playgroup have made a collection to be sent out to youngsters living in poverty in the Cebu region.
The clothes will be distributed by a Roman Catholic charity and their shipment is being paid for by ITT Industries, which has a base in Basingstoke.
Rachel Jones, who has children at both North Waltham Primary School and Overton Playgroup, organised the collection.
"I visited the Philippines last Christmas and was just overwhelmed by the poverty that children out there are living in," she said.
"When I got back I decided to try to help by arranging this collection of clothes and shoes. We probably have enough stuff to fill four or five big boxes, which is great.
"I am really pleased and everyone has been very generous. I would like to thank everybody who made donations, both from the school and the playgroup."
