Sir.–Council officers and the bin collection crews deserve congratulations for the very successful phased roll out of the glass recycling project.
Phase one of the project has been a huge success, with more glass being collected and very high customer satisfaction.
This Conservative initiative will make recycling easier. I was pleased to propose a vote of thanks to all involved, but Labour refused to support it.
The Labour Party has opposed this added service consistently.
They will have to justify why they don’t want to make recycling easier, don’t want to increase recycling, and don’t want to extend services.
However, it is petty politics and frankly childish for Labour to refuse to say ‘thank-you and well done’ to the officers and collection crews.
