A YOUNG girl was grabbed by a man as she walked home from school yesterday.

The 11 year-old was walking along Falkland Road, Popley at about 4.30pm when she was approached by a car which had two men inside.

One of the men got out of the car and grabbed the girl’s wrist, but fortunately she was able to free herself and run away.

It is believed one of the men was white and the other may have been Asian.

Detective Constable Jo Blanchard said: “This is an unusual incident and we don’t want to frighten people.

“However, we do need to hear from anyone who saw a large dark-blue car in the Falkland Road area on Monday afternoon or anyone who witnessed the incident itself.”

Reassurance patrols are being conducted in the Popley area by police. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Det Con Blanchard on 101 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
