THROUGH research, South Central Connexions has discovered that, despite employment benefits, employers find it hard to recruit quality youngsters.

Coupled with other barriers that employers face, the number of young people seeking apprenticeships in the area exceeds the opportunities that are available.

In partnership with Basingstoke College of Technology (BCOT), South Central Connexions aims to support employers to identify the right young people to train in order to fill skills gaps.

Together they support young people to find out about apprenticeships and engage with employers to find out about career paths within their organisations.

At a special event on Thursday, September 28, young people will have the opportunity to speak to "real" employers about "real" vacancies.

The event, which is being held at BCOT from 5pm to 8.30pm, will also be a fantastic opportunity for employers to hear about Apprenticeships Online, a new interactive website.

Apprenticeships Online offers a central point for both employers and young people. Employers will be offered information and advice about apprenticeships and will be introduced to local learning providers who will support them to advertise and manage their vacancies.

Young people can create their own online account, access information, view current and future opportunities, apply online, and track the progress of their application.

Join in with this innovative and exciting free event to find out more about Apprenticeships Online.
