A TRIO of women writers shared their stories – and signed their new books – at a special Ladies’ Night Out in Basingstoke.

The event, held in the Discovery Centre in Festival Place, was suggested by the manager of Waterstone’s, Annabel Martin, who previously worked with top chick-lit novelist Adele Parks.

Annabel explained: “We planned at the beginning of the year to bring Adele back to do another ‘girl’s night in’ event as we have organised them before and they have always gone really well.

“The Discovery Centre were keen to get involved so we worked on something together.”

Authors Julie Cohen and Jessica Ruston joined Adele on an ‘in conversation with’ panel where the 70 ticketholders had the chance to ask them some questions.

Annabel said: “Afterwards, they signed copies of their books and everyone joined in with the fashion part of the evening, getting beauty tips and fitness advice from Basingstoke Sports Centre.”

"At the end of the evening, Wendy Elsmore showed the ladies what to wear this season as part of Festival Place's Style Academy."

The next Waterstone’s signing will feature cookery writer Rosemary Shrager, on May 18. Full details online at waterstones.com.
