CHILDREN sang and bopped along to Abba songs during a school visit from the stars of a brand new family show.

Pupils at St Mary’s Junior School, in Old Basing, were paid a visit from the musicians behind Honey Honey, the first Abba show aimed specifically at children which will be on at The Anvil on October 28.

Thirty pupils from the school’s choir will also be joining the Honey Honey team on stage to sing I Have a Dream and Thank You for the Music for both Anvil performances, at 11.30am and 3.30pm.

The musicians – who include Aileen Mclaughlin, T J Davis, Robin Scott and Jules Dodd who have toured the world with Abba tribute act Björn Again over the last 14 years – have been visiting several north Hampshire schools in the run-up to the show, offering a taster of what is in store, and they certainly proved a hit with the Old Basing children.

Marilyn Wright, music teacher at the school in Belle Vue Road, said: “The children thought it was amazing. It was incredible that they all knew Abba’s music and they were all singing and dancing along with the six foot-plus Benny Bear.”

The show involves the Swedish pop sensation’s catchy music, crowd interaction and big, friendly Benny Bear.
