BOLD and stylish clothes were created for a Basingstoke event showcasing some of tomorrow’s fashion talent.

Glitzy garments featured in the Basingstoke College of Technology’s (BCOT) annual fashion show.

It was the culmination of the combined effort of 100 students, who as models and designers have been working for weeks to make it a memorable event.

Sue Martin, course leader for BA (Hons) Textiles for Fashion, who choreographed the show, said: “It was an excellent show, with such a high standard and a professional feel to it.”

Teams from Toni and Guy and Smashbox – make-up artists from Debenhams in Festival Place – were on hand to help hair and beauty students give the show an uber-cool style.

The clothes were end-of-year and exam pieces by first and second year national diploma fashion students and foundation art and design and BA (Hons) textiles for fashion students in their first, second, and final years.

A theme of this year’s show was the environment and sustainability, so much of the material was locally sourced and little of it wasted.

Mrs Martin said: “There was such a range of strong and vibrant colours and intricate fabrics, with plenty of embellishments and beading”

The creative arts and technology department also held a static display of students’ work.
