Sir.–Government should look at itself before making wild cuts which will affect everyone.
Why not cut the number of MPs to 500? Also, remove all the safe seats. Why should someone get elected just because he is a friend of someone high up? Make them work harder for their money.
If all the safe seats were eradicated, I have no doubt that the boundaries would have to be redrawn but again there should be no safe seats allocated.
Maybe, just maybe, that would help Joe Public to have more of a say in what has become a farcical situation.
We normally take our grandchildren to a pantomime at Christmas but this year we have no need. We’ve been watching one since May of this year.
