JEWELLERY worth £10,000 was stolen from a house in Brighton Hill after two paving slabs were used to smash the patio window.

Along with the jewellery, burglars also stole a dark red, leather jewellery box, two birth certificates and two laptops from the house in Chopin Road.

PC Natalie Stallworthy of the Basingstoke Priority Crime Team said: “This burglary happened during the day and in an area where people would have been out and about.

“The address is very near to a footpath regularly used by pupils and their families going to Manor Field School so it is likely that people walking by may have seen something.

“The burglar or burglars would have had to scale a high rear wall and would have been carrying lots of property so we would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious to get in touch.”

Anyone with information about the incident, which happened between 11am and 6.40pm on November 19, should contact PC Stallworthy at Basingstoke police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
