A MAN was beaten with a golf club by a gang of youths in Basingstoke.
The 43-year-old man was set upon by four youths during an unprovoked attack in Pentland Close at around 10pm last Thursday.
The victim suffered cuts and bruises to his head and was treated at Basingstoke hospital.
Detective Constable Jon Swift, of Basingstoke CID, said: “This was a particularly nasty attack that has resulted in the victim requiring hospital treatment.
“The assault was unprovoked and the victim is fortunate that his injuries were not more severe.
“We believe a group of four youths were responsible and we would ask anyone who saw anything in Pentland Close last Thursday night to contact us as soon as possible.”
A 27-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy from Basingstoke have been arrested and bailed in connection with this incident.
