A MAJOR stationary chain with a branch in Basingstoke has announced plans to close all of its high street stores in the UK.

Typo, which is owned by fashion group Cotton On, is expected to shut all its UK stores by 2027.

This includes shutting the branch in Festival Place.

The company will also discontinue its online shop as part of its withdrawal from the UK market.

This news comes after the closure of a number of Typo stores across the UK, including in Westfield Stratford and White City in London.

In a statement reported by The Express, the company said: “After careful consideration, we are closing Typo's operations in the United Kingdom, with all stores and online trading to close by early 2027.

“We recognise the impact of this decision on our Typo UK team, who are already aware of this, and our priority is to support our people through this transition.

“Cotton On, Cotton On Body and Cotton On Kids will continue to operate through online and wholesale channels in the UK, and we remain confident in their long-term growth.”

Typo has been in Festival Place for approximately eight years, opening in 2019.
