Hampshire woman to represent England at Miss Earth

 Georgina Lawrence, 26, won the titles of Miss Earth Hampshire in May and Miss Earth England in August, and is set to fly out to the Philippines in late November to compete for the international title. 

Miss Earth is a major beauty pageant that advocates for environmental awareness and conservation, with participants engaging in a range of charitable causes. Georgina has set up the Rooted Resilience Foundation  to host children’s workshops that teach growing food at home and environmental sustainability.

These have taken place at local nurseries and schools as well as clubs like guides and brownies.

 Georgina became interested in self-sufficient growing two years ago and has been cultivating fruit at her family’s farm since then. She is currently studying environmental science and hopes to work in conservation.

Georgina will be the first type one diabetic to represent England at the Miss Earth pageant, planning to wear her pump and CGM onstage. 

She has been campaigning for more awareness around type one diabetes for five years and runs a monthly diabetic support group, along with writing a children’s book about living with diabetes. 

 Georgina reports that “wearing a pump and CGM on stage is incredibly empowering” and that others with the condition have reported feeling represented when talking to her after a pageant.

 “I’ve been competing in pageants for 10 years now and have learned so much and gained so much confidence from it in the last couple of years. I’ve become more interested in living sustainably and self-sufficiently”, she says. Miss Earth allowed her to “combine two of (her) favourite hobbies”.

 The experience of winning the England title has been very emotional for Georgina. “I was very overwhelmed and if you’ve seen the videos, I burst into tears. I still don’t feel like it's truly sunk in!”.

Georgina flies out in November to take part in the December 12 finals after three weeks of activities and charity work that all delegates take part in. 78 countries and territories from all around the world took part in 2025, with 61 currently confirmed for this year.
