Artist Ingrid Berry to exhibit at The Yard, Chilton Candover

Titled Mother Earth Father Sky, the collection is the largest to date by Hampshire-based artist Ingrid Berry and will be on display at The Yard in Chilton Candover.

The exhibition features large-scale oil paintings inspired by Berry’s personal journey and her exploration of the inner child, a concept she first encountered while living in California in 2013.

Berry said: "We were all indigenous once.

"To paint is to be in immediate, felt contact with all that is living  - mountain life, cloud life, earth life, sun life.

"Painting is where I find energy, power and wonder."

The artwork includes recurring figures representing both adult and child, reflecting Berry’s own long journey toward self-rediscovery.

Drawing from time spent with Indigenous communities such as the Sámi, Aboriginal Australians and Native Americans, Berry’s work explores the concept of Mother Earth and Father Sky - land as healer and sky as guide.

This is her most significant body of work to date, which she describes as 40 years in the making.

The exhibition is open to the public from October 2 to 4, from 10am to 3pm each day. Entry is free.
