Drug driver led police on 13-mile chase near Whitchurch

Tia Paget, 34, of Ashley Court in Gosport, was high on cocaine and cannabis when she failed to stop for officers on the A34 northbound near Whitchurch just after 3pm on April 13.

She was driving a black Vauxhall Insignia without insurance.

During the pursuit, Paget undertook vehicles at high speed, cut up a lorry at a roundabout, and weaved through traffic before being stopped on the A339 in Newbury.

She was apprehended after becoming stuck behind a queue of static traffic.

The police said: "She then failed a roadside drug wipe for cannabis and cocaine, and small quantities of these drugs were also found inside her car."

She appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court on August 20 and was sentenced for drug driving, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and possession of cocaine and cannabis.

She has been banned from driving for four years, and was handed a sentence of 10 months imprisonment, which was suspended for two years.

Paget was also ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and 12 rehabilitation requirement days.
